Set Design Through the Gingerbread House

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

From the first sketch to the final product, Kathryn Smith will walk workshop participants through the process of scenic design via a virtual process. How do we create the world of our show? How do you communicate with your director and fellow designers? What are some tips and tricks when designing a set on any budget?

In this workshop, we will cover the early design process and work towards a ‘final’ set model. With winter and the holiday season upon us, participants will be invited to use a gingerbread house kit to build their final set model!*

This workshop is open to anyone, regardless of set design background. Whether you’ve worked as a theatre designer for many years, or if you’re just learning what a set designer does, all are welcome.

Participants will have to provide their own gingerbread houses. If this component is a barrier, folks are welcome to use paper, cardboard, or other household items.

Participants will receive a Zoom link for each of the three online classes, November 24, 26, and December 1, 2020, 6:30 to 8:30pm.

Suggested Price: $60
