Sponsorship Committee
The Sled Island Music & Arts Festival is seeking volunteers interested in adding their experience and perspective to our sponsorship committee.
The sponsorship committee has been created to provide advice for Sled Island staff on matters relating to enhancing revenue from sponsorship, and to support our achievement of sponsorship revenue targets.
The committee is chaired by a member of the Sled Island Arts Fellowship Board and includes additional board members as well as the Sled Island executive director.
The committee is inviting general volunteers who have an interest in supporting Sled Island’s sponsorship objectives to apply to join the sponsorship committee.
As a sponsorship committee member, you will attend four to six meetings throughout the year and should expect a total time commitment of 10 to 15 hours over the year. Additional commitment may be required during the festival to support the staff.
Previous volunteer experience on a board or committee is highly valued. Additional skills of interest include the ability to develop strategic partnerships and build consensus. A passion for music and music festivals, Sled Island’s unique programming, making Calgary awesome and a commitment to the role of governance is essential.

Responsibilities:
- Attend approximately four to six meetings throughout the year.
- Support and participate in sponsorship and fundraising efforts, including facilitating introductions to sponsorship prospects where appropriate.
- Clearly communicate the role of the festival and ensure that its value and contributions are understood and appreciated by all stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate(s) will have:
- Experience with sponsorship in a professional or volunteer capacity.
- Passion and vision for the growth and sustainability of the festival in Calgary as well as the impact it has on its community.
- An appreciation of the festival’s eclectic programming and independent spirit.
- An open mind, with the ability to consider multiple and sometimes conflicting points of view in finding solutions.
- High ethical standards.
- An awareness of issues that impact the festival and the festival’s role in its community.
- The ability to network, collaborate and engage with a variety of stakeholders.
