Spring 2023 Drama Education Programs for Youth
Pumphouse Theatre Spring Drama Education Programs — registration opens January 16, 2023.
Looking for a creative outlet for your young artist? The Pumphouse Theatre is back with a brand new semester of drama education programs. From preschool to teenagers, and now adults, we have a drama class that is suited for everyone! Weekend/Evening Drama Classes
Playful Drama
Ages: 6-8
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Monday, 6 – 7pm; April 17 – June 26, 2023 (no class on May 22)
Class Fee: $125
Maximum Capacity: 16
This course is a great introduction to the drama basics, and covers a variety of topics including: storytelling, character, sharing, movement, and theatre games. This is a wonderful way to help your child explore their imagination, learn new skills and have fun! No experience is required!
Creation in Motion
Ages: 9 – 12
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Sundays 10am – 12 noon; April 16 – June 25, 2023 (no class on May 21)
Class Fee: $250
Maximum Capacity: 16
Explore storytelling and harness imagination through physicality. Creation in Motion will encourage creative expression through movement, choreography, mime, balance, staging and mask. Students will learn about teamwork, gain self-confidence and be physically active, all within a safe and engaging environment. No previous experience is required!
Theatre Arts Exploration
Ages: 9 – 12
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Saturdays, 10am – 12 noon; April 15 – June 24, 2023 (no class on May 20)
Class Fee: $250
Maximum Capacity: 16
This course is an all-inclusive exploration of the theatre arts. Students will be encouraged to discover a variety of dramatic techniques such as character creation, improvisation, movement, Shakespeare, scene study and more! Have a blast creating and performing an original final presentation for friends and family. No experience is required!
Improv for Teens
Ages: 13-17
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Monday, 6 – 8pm; April 17 – June 26, 2023 (no class on May 22)
Class Fee: $325
Maximum Capacity: 16
Improv is a great way to have fun and explore while bolstering creativity, adaptability, team work and confidence. This course includes lessons in theatre sports, character development, storytelling and many favourite improvisation games. Be inspired to think outside the box, learn something new and have fun! No experience is required!
Acting for the Camera
Ages: 13 – 17
Location: The Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Saturdays, 10am – 12 noon; April 15 – June 24, 2023 (no class on May 20)
Class Fee: $325
Maximum Capacity: 16
Want to learn more about what it takes to make it in film? This class provides the opportunity for teens to learn the ins and outs of the professional film and television world. Learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to auditioning for the screen, and learn advanced acting techniques to prepare you for the profession. Previous drama class experience is encouraged.
If you do not see a homeschool program that works for you, contact us about our Customizable Cohort Classroom option. We will work with you to create a program that meets your and your children’s needs.
All courses will adhere to all COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
All courses, with the exception of our customized programs and workshops, are 10 weeks in length.
All in-person classes will take place at the Pumphouse Theatre (2140 Pumphouse Ave SW) when protocols allow. Classes may be alternatively conducted online.
Register before March 15, and receive our early bird discount of $25 off.
Register two or more members of the same immediate family and receive our multi-child discount of $25 off.
