RedPoint Media Group is seeking a staff writer to assist with writing, editing and fact-checking. This part-time contract position will start immediately. RedPoint Media has a hybrid office setup offering employees the opportunity to work from home or from the co-working space at cSpace Marda Loop. Some face-to-face meetings as well as event attendance are required.

Hourly payment will be commensurate with experience and will be approximately $20/hour.

Our opportunity

The part-time staff writer, RPM Content Studio, contract position is a wide-ranging role that requires excellent skills in writing. The junior writer will excel at creating content for various projects with multiple and often urgent deadlines. The remote role requires 15-20 hours per week and will be offered for six months from August 31 to January 31, 2024, with the option to renew. Above all, we are looking for someone who will be a good fit on our team, who is thoughtful, talented, dedicated and ready to create some amazing content.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research and write print and online branded content (advertorial and feature partner) stories.
  • Research and write for a variety of custom publications, including regular departments, sidebars, features and Q&As.
  • Support the editorial team with fact-checking as needed following established fact-checking process.
  • Provide proofing and editing support as needed.
  • Assist with additional client support, including creating source lists, mailing lists etc.
  • Contribute to brainstorming discussions for upcoming editorial and custom content.
  • Other editorial duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate

Our staff writer will:

  • Have at least 2–3 years of editorial/branded content writing experience.
  • Possess excellent writing skills, ideally with experience in lifestyle, medical lifestyle and profile (people and businesses) writing.
  • Generate well-written and engaging stories on sometimes urgent deadlines.
  • Know how to research stories to ensure relevance, engagement and accuracy.
  • Be a flexible and adaptable team player.
  • Have fact-checking experience.
  • Be savvy at display copy.
  • Be an amazing storyteller and overall human.
