About the Lot 6 Project

The City of Calgary and the Calgary Downtown Association (CDA) are developing a vibrant new outdoor venue on Lot 6. Nestled along the river and near the commercial district, Lot 6 will offer amenities for residents, workers, and visitors, including a possible dog park, events with DJs and live music, as well as a bar, restaurant, café and/or ice cream shop.

2024 Pilot Edition

Dates: August 29 – September 30, 2024
Hours: Thursday to Saturday, 12 noon to 11pm
Events: 3 per week

End Time: October 4, 2024
Salary: $25 – $40/hour depending on experience
Position: 30h/week

Job Summary

In collaboration with Aire Commune, the City of Calgary, CDA, and Belleville Placemaking, the stage manager will manage all aspects of stage production for events at Lot 6, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality performances. The stage manager also coordinates with performers, technical crew, and other staff to deliver seamless stage experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the various suppliers involved to evaluate costs, reserve equipment, and organize set-up of the stage according to the needs of the planned shows
  • Attend weekly meetings with the production team
  • Manage installation, maintenance and dismantling of the stage and the technical equipment
  • Monitor sound management issues (data collection, equipment monitoring, compliance with dB limits)
  • Act as stage manager and site crew manager (supervise the sitecrew team if there are any infrastructure or technical needs on site during the event)

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment and stage setups

Experiences:

  • Experience in stage management and production
  • Experience in the event management industry
  • Candidates must have a laptop computer and a cell phone that can be contacted throughout the duration of the pilot
