StoryShare-By-Phone
The listing period for this opportunity has passed.
Flatten the stress curve with story. Storytellers are standing by! All our prep work is done and our new pandemic response program, StoryShare-By-Phone (SSBP), is ready to deliver stories to Calgary’s isolated seniors and hear theirs in return.
Details of the program are below and our promo sheet is attached. To request an SSBP, seniors or anyone who wants to give a senior the gift of a story can visit storytellingalberta.com. Or phone Doreen Vanderstoop at 403.816.6002.
How StoryShare-By-Phone (SSBP) Works
- Any Calgary senior 65 years of age or older living in their own home, either alone or with one or two others, can request a StoryShare-By-Phone.
- One of our SSBP storytellers calls the senior to set a story delivery date and time.
- A storyteller or volunteer team contacts the senior via conference call.
- The storyteller tells a story and the senior is invited to share a story from their lived history.
- The volunteer provides the senior with connections to resources if they are needed.
The 20 to 30-minute sessions are designed to be entertaining, connect the senior to the larger community, and help improve seniors’ quality of life.
