StoryShare
Storytelling Alberta (Calgary Chapter) has launched a free friendly outreach program called StoryShare. This is a program for isolated seniors 65 years of age or over. An experienced storyteller shares a story and a volunteer is present to be a caring listener and to connect the senior with community resources as needed. Our full 18-month project kicked into gear on October 1, 2020.

Outreach Options
StoryShare offers three options at no cost to the client:
- Individual StoryShare Chat: One of our professional storytellers delivers a story to you or someone you love. Sessions can include one or two recipients via phone or video platform. The clients can share an anecdote from their lived history if they wish. A community volunteer connects the seniors to any resources they might need. To view a sample session, visit youtube.com.
- Tellaround: We host online story sharing circles where clients can join by phone or video to tell a story or listen to others share theirs.
- Legacy Recording: We record (by phone or video platform) a senior’s story or an interview with them as part of our Legacy Project.
All Calgary and area seniors 65 years of age or over qualify for any or all of these free services. We also offer sessions in other language including French, Spanish, Urdu, and Dutch. And we have five iPads we can loan out to our clients so they can connect to us by video platform.
