Support Your Live Event Community
The deadline for this opportunity has passed.
Support your live event community with #LightUpLive #EclaironsLesScenes #WeBuildEntertainment.
Live Event Community, an organization formed to support Canadian live event workers who’ve lost their livelihoods due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, is organizing a Day of Visibility on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
Live Event Community is asking technicians, suppliers, and venues across Canada to light the night red one hour after sundown to raise awareness for an industry that is still dark—and will be one of the last to recover.
Please join some of Canada’s most iconic landmarks in lighting your venue, building, home, or even yourself in red and sharing photos and videos on social media.
Visit lightuplive.ca to add your venue to the interactive map and use the hashtags #LightUpLive and #EclaironsLesScenes on social media leading up to and during the Day of Visibility.
The Day of Visibility for the Live Event Community will run Tuesday, September 22, 2020, from an hour after sundown, coast to coast.
In Calgary
We have secured Olympic Plaza for September 22, 2020, to set up a visual representation of how many live event workers will likely remain unemployed until the end of the pandemic, this is a free event. The goal is to draw attention without drawing too many people together.
Venues
We are asking venues with visible fronts in Calgary to light themselves up red, from 8:30pm to 1:00am for awareness on September 22, 2020. We will be supplying limited equipment and supplies for venues that want to participate, but are currently unable to provide their own. If you are able to light up your venue, please add yourself to the map at lightuplive.ca
Individuals
We are also asking people at home to put a red light on either on their porch or window for that duration snap a photo and post it to social media with the soon to be provided hashtags from 8:30pm to 1:00am for awareness on September 22, 2020. We will also have a limited amount of supplies for those wanting to participate at home but supplies are a barrier to participation. Please contact us at redalertyyc@gmail.com for more information.
Social Media Campaign
We are seeking submissions for a social media campaign. This campaign is asking for Reddit-style selfies. The person holds up a piece of paper in the selfie and the piece of paper contains the following: Hi, My name is and I do this, this is who I am, is what I miss about my industry which is followed by the campaign hashtags.
For example: Hi, my name is Eleanor and I am a production and operations manager as well as a mom and a mentor, I miss making people happy and I fear for my family’s future, followed by the hashtags #LightUpLive and #WeBuildEntertainment.
We are also seeking short videos on the impact on organizations. Information from this campaign will be used in the display and as part of the ongoing conversations about the community.
Add your face to the campaign at forms.google.
We will be releasing a video with footage of the event with images and video from the social media campaign so we continue to humanize the impact to this community long after the day is done.
