Technical Director
For Festival of Emerging Artists
We are seeking a technical director to join our IGNITE! team for the 2023 IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists in Calgary. The technical director will be responsible for planning and executing a successful load-in, technical running elements and strike. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical theatre production, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and source all information about the artistic projects involved in the festival.
- Determine the production requirements and the festival’s capacity to satisfy them.
- Identify gaps and source materials to satisfy those gaps.
- Schedule technical time based on production availability and need.
- Schedule technical staff and support that staff throughout the festival.
- Collaborate with the production team, including lighting and sound designers, stage managers and other technical personnel to ensure a successful festival.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in theatre production
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of current technical theatre practices and equipment
