The GRAND is a non-profit organization committed to supporting our local arts community and our mandate to be Calgary’s contemporary culture house.

In addition to its theatre productions and support of the arts, The GRAND property is also well positioned for rentals, hosting and curating events such as corporate functions, corporate parties, fundraisers, weddings, music, comedy, fashion shows, and similar events related to the community.

How Do You Fit In?

The operations assistant is a part-time position focused on supporting the operations and facility teams at The GRAND. The operations assistant works closely with The GRAND team to organize and maintain the venue and will assist in developing operational process documents to support The GRAND’s reopening in the fall of 2021. The ideal candidate for this role is independent and self-motivated, thrives while problem solving, and is detail oriented when working on physical tasks.

Duties of the operations assistant include:

  • In-depth organization and cataloging of venue equipment, office materials, and archival materials.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the office, studio, dressing room and front of house areas.
  • Assist in developing operations and facility documents for The GRAND.
  • Facility walkthroughs and preparing the studio for artists.
  • Ensure all security, safety and COVID-19 health and safety guidelines are being adhered to within the facility.
  • Event work and administrative support tasks as needed.

Qualifications/Required Skills:

  • Passionate about the local arts scene—and live performance in particular.
  • Willing and able to work on site at The GRAND.
  • Comfortable taking on physical tasks and projects such as cleaning, organizing, and archiving of equipment and materials.
  • The ability to ask for clarification and assistance as needed.
  • Comfortable taking direction and working independently.
  • Demonstrative good judgement.
  • Knowledgeable and able to work confidently in Microsoft Office suite/Office 365/Google Workspace.
  • A driver’s license and access to a vehicle is a strong asset.

Time Commitment

This is a part-time role, up to 10 to 20 hours per week. This role includes a balance of remote and in-venue work at The GRAND (608 1st St. SW). A weekly work schedule will be determined based on the candidates availability and the needs of the team. The successful applicant must be available Mondays 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Details

This position is supported through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. All applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30, and must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

Compensation: $20/Hour
