StoryBook produces shows using volunteer actors mentored alongside professional production and creative team members, including professional directors, designers and choreographers. It is typically not our mandate to offer paid contracts to actors in our shows as we are a learning environment offering an experience unlike any other in the city to any artist looking to learn and grow in theatre arts.

This production will however offer up to six artists a chance at a paid acting opportunity. This season StoryBook was fortunate enough to receive a grant affording the ability to offer paid contracts to a select few.

These contracts are limited in availability and applicants must meet the following requirements for consideration:

  • Be a graduate of a post-secondary institution or program in theatre arts or have equivalent experience as a performer.
  • Aged 18 to 30.
  • Pursuing a professional career in theatre arts.
  • Seeking professional theatre development and willing to support and mentor younger volunteer artists in our programming.

We will consider equity artists, however, we are limited by the grant regarding fees. Those who qualify will be invited to complete a form as part of the audition process.

We will also continue to offer some artist bursaries or scholarships when casting decisions are made to help support artists in need or help those artists not qualified for the grant application to take part in our productions. To find out more about these programs, please visit our website.
