Term: Theatre Technician (Part Time)
Location: Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge and Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton
Start Date: Immediately Salary: $19.71/hr – $24.63/hour

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests,and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience working as a live performance event technician.
- Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends at both locations.
- Experience with programming and operation of lighting consoles (Element or similar).
- Experience in hanging and focusing lighting equipment.
- Experience with digital sound processing and related equipment (Yamaha TF3 or similar) and analogue consoles (Sound craft GB8 or similar).
- Experience with AV equipment (Panasonic PTDz870 or similar).
- Working knowledge of QLab.
- Ability to rig and knowledge of safe rigging practice.
- Experience working as a live performance technician.
- Ability to run crews is an asset.
- Ability to work independently is an asset.
- As you will be working with rental clients, excellent interpersonal and communication skills is an asset.
- Organizational skills are an asset.
- Fall protection certification (YMCA will provide training opportunities for recertification as/if needed).
- Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months).
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Reporting to the technical director, and as requested, you will oversee and operate house equipment (lighting, sound, AV, clear-com, other) for events occurring in the theatre.
- Ensures and/or undertakes the safe and appropriate rigging of all equipment, including overhead (including but not limited to lighting, AV, sound gear, draperies, etc.).
- Supervises and assists with load-ins and strikes, as required.
- Supervises the event as required, ensuring the event is operating safely and appropriately (per health and safety, fire regulations, and other protocols).
- Undertakes the hanging, rigging, patching, testing, and focusing.
- Troubleshoots and solves problems that may arise during events to ensure the best possible outcome.
- Ensures the space and its equipment are well-maintained and safe.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the best delivery of customer/client experience with positivity.
