CRIEC’s THRIVE Calgary conference showcases the resilient, innovative and welcoming spirit that makes our city a destination for the change-makers of tomorrow to start, grow and thrive.
This year, the theme for the THRIVE Calgary conference is Be That One Yes. With the Canadian government’s commitment to welcoming 1.485 million newcomers between 2024 – 2026, THRIVE will highlight the importance of giving an internationally trained professional That One Yes that brings them back into their professional field in Canada. It will also provide them with the knowledge, tools and resources that will increase their chances of getting That One Yes from employers in their industry of choice. Employers and industry will learn more about the best practices on recruitment, onboarding, and retention from the experts. In so doing supporting and contributing to Calgary’s social and economic fabric. This conference is targeted towards industry leaders, employers and internationally trained professionals.
The conference will explore the following topics:
Attract: Explore why some employers consider hiring internationally trained professionals a “risk,” and discover the knowledge, tools and resources that can help mitigate these perceived risks. In so doing, the conference will delve into what makes that thinking obsolete. For job seekers, you’ll learn techniques to develop your personal brand and strategies to make your resume stand out.
Recruit: Think like a recruiter and explore how you can utilize the talent and experience of internationally trained professionals to bring fresh perspective and ideas to your team and organization.
Onboard: Learn about the importance and best practices of a smooth onboarding process and how it can enhance workplace culture and employee loyalty. Internationally trained professionals can learn how to optimize their onboarding experience to lessen “learning curve pains” later.
Retain: Explore innovative approaches and unique initiatives that will promote retention in organizations. These include mentorship, career progression, cultivating inclusion and tested strategies that will have the greatest impact.
