Join us for a fun, informal, interactive and informative series of community conversations over your lunch hour. Each session will feature an identified big topic or an interesting aspect of Calgary Chinatown and its culture, like food, arts, youth, storytelling, and more. We will leave lots of time to discuss, and share ideas and stories!

This is for anyone with an interest in Calgary Chinatown, and who wants to discuss the experiences, culture and opportunities of this unique community.

Artists, young professionals, entrepreneurs, seniors, students or everyone who’s curious and eager to learn!

Episode #2: The State of the Arts

Is it important for Chinatown to be known as a site of artistic production, consumption and traditions? What would this take to achieve? What are the opportunities for arts and culture? What programming, spaces, and (micro)grants are available and are needed?

Guest Speakers

Our panel of speakers will include local artists and cultural professionals. We will also be joined by a member of The City of Calgary’s arts and culture team to talk about current micro-grants for community-initiated art projects and activities. More details coming soon!

Online Platform

GoToMeeting is the platform we use. Registration is required. We will send you a session link one day before the event. If using a computer or laptop, you can connect within a web browser (Google Chrome recommended). If using a smartphone or tablet, we recommend you download the GoToMeeting App in advance.

The session will be recorded for later viewing by the general public.
