Vertigo Theatre Residencies

Vertigo Theatre

Deadline to apply: Monday, July 15, 2024

Vertigo Theatre invites proposals from members of the Calgary theatre community for two local Company Residencies to begin in September, 2024.

Vertigo Theatre is keenly interested in supporting companies in the development of their organizations and any upcoming projects, from inception to production; assisting in helping resident companies to grow and develop while at Vertigo.

These residencies are intended for independent companies and/or collectives, working on projects that are in alignment with Vertigo Theatre’s mandate around both mystery and intrigue theatre (Horror/Thriller/Mystery/Suspense/Noir/Courtroom/Crime Political Drama/Police procedural/etc.) in either their own artistic practice or within specific projects. Stories can be original writings, creations, and/or based around interpretations of classics and adaptations from alternate sources.

The timelines for the residencies and details of support systems offered would be catered to the needs and projects of the companies, and would generally occur over a 1 – 3 year term.

Applications proposals should include the following:

  • Name of company/collective and mandate.
  • A brief outline of why Vertigo Theatre is a good match for your company.
  • A short project description detailing what stage the project is currently at; the artistic phase of your project and future goal for the project.
  • A list of artists involved, thus far.
  • CVs of lead creators or team members.

Applications must be received no later than Monday July 15, 2024.

Please send them to Laura Couch, Company Manager, at laura.couch@vertigotheatre.com with RESIDENT COMPANY APPLICATION in the subject line.

We thank all applicants and will be in touch with those that most align with the program.
