Videographer Intern

Do you want to improve your ability to shoot and edit videos?
If so, Helcim is looking for a passionate Videographer Intern to join our amazing design team for a four-month term starting in January 2022. We’re looking for a person that is passionate about creative storytelling through video production to join our talented team of video professionals.
Helcim is a young, socially-responsible, positive, fast-paced company and team members must work well under pressure and want to grow with us. This position is part of our brand new outreach strategy with a focus on video content marketing.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with managers and the video content creation team to produce weekly/monthly video content that explains concepts, showcases customers/case studies, promotes features, How-To’s, marketing material and more.
- Captivate our audience with engaging video production and editing.
- Create videos that bring value to our audience beyond just self-promotion.
- Whenever possible, provide assistance on all fronts of video pre-production, production and post-production.
- Able to assist productions by running a second camera, or ingesting and organizing footage.
- Help to ensure all productions are consistent with the Helcim brand identity and values.
- You have a high sense of composition and photography.
Who you are:
- You are a creative professional who loves to shoot and edit videos.
- Strong technical storytelling skills.
- Jedi in Adobe Creative Suite software (Audition, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop)… may the force be with you
- Comfortable with all aspects of setting up and executing video shoots, either in studio or run and gun.
- Strong editing skills are a must. Ability to craft a story, whether it’s inherent in the script or lifted from the footage, is key.
- Skilled in all components of the production, including sound, lighting, camera, and post production.
- Strong technical camera and lighting knowledge, or a deep willingness to learn more.
- A basic understanding of sound production/editing is required, with an advanced knowledge a definite asset.
- Strong critical thinking skills – especially in an on-the-fly environment
- Receptive to constructive criticisms… It looks great, but here’s something we could try next time….
- A team player who prioritizes collaborative work and the good of the whole over personal achievements
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, combined with strong interpersonal skills… don’t worry, you don’t need to be Shakespeare.
Must provide a portfolio showcasing various videos, psst… this is really important.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Interest in marketing an asset
- Experience with 3D Design is an asset.
- Experience with motion graphics, and animation is considered an asset.

Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be located in Calgary for this position. Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home. Staff are required to be fully vaccinated to work in our office and participate in company events.
