Visual and Performance Art Exhibition
Ritual Arts Endeavour is seeking submissions from creatives across artistic disciplines for an upcoming exhibition at cSPACE.
Exhibition dates: November 2 – 30, 2023
Application deadline: September 6, 2023, at 10pm MT
Art pieces will be on display for the full month. A performance gallery will take place November 2 and 3, 2023.
Location: cSPACE – 1721 29th Ave. SW (view website) Theme: The Cycle of (Re)Birth, Life, Death
The cycles of birth, life and death are a commonality shared across time, cultures, races and religions, with rites of passage and initiation often forming core beliefs within a culture. Since our earliest records, humans have made visual representations of our lives, and for many centuries since, artists have communicated spiritual concepts through visual means to create understanding for their communities.
Given this significance, Ritual Arts invites artists to explore the stories, memories, ceremonies and deeper meanings of these cycles within their own personal and cultural contexts, in order to express and dialogue between our unique viewpoints.
We are happy to announce that the second annual Ritual Arts Exhibition will take place this coming November at Calgary’s cSPACE in Marda Loop. Our change of venue opens new doors to the possibilities around the inclusion of expanded performing arts showcases alongside the visual art exhibition which will now remain active for public viewing for the entire month of November.

Ritual Arts is committed to cultivating and preserving a broad perspective through the concept of Ritual. Inclusion and diversity is a core value of our mission. The individual differences, knowledge, self-expression and life experiences of each artist brings depth and richness to the whole. We welcome the unique contributions that each individual’s path of life brings in terms of education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and/or expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, veteran’s status, colour, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs. We will not tolerate hate towards any groups, in any form of expression. Please note, if a piece submitted is connected to, or represents specific cultural traditions (especially cultures subjected to marginalization and/or colonization), we may request an interview for background on your work(s).
Note: Due to the nature of performance art, all artists accepted into our performance gallery will be awarded a portion of the profits generated from the performance showcase. Specifics regarding compensation will be shared with all participating artists after the final adjudication of submissions is completed and budgets have been finalized.
