Otafest would be literally impossible without our wonderful volunteers, and we endeavor to make it as fun as possible to volunteer with us! Volunteering is a great way to level up your Otafest involvement while earning valuable experience to put on a resume and gain community service hours!
Whether you’re volunteering alone or with friends, we’ll do our best to keep you smiling throughout the whole weekend.
Selections will be made after the volunteer application deadline has passed. We will notify all applicants as to whether they’ve been accepted or not at that time.

Requirements:
Otafest selects its volunteers based on your submitted availability and departmental needs, in addition to the following requirements:
- A minimum commitment of four 3-hour shifts (12 hours total) over the 3-day festival.
- Completion of a mandatory online training module.
- Optional (but highly recommended) in-person orientation. Dates TBD.
- You must submit a volunteer deposit (information below).
- You must be at least 13 years old by May 16, 2025 to volunteer for Otafest 2025.
- Signing Otafest’s volunteer contract, which outlines your responsibilities to Otafest as well as Otafest’s commitment to you. Volunteers under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the contract as well.
Fees and Benefits
There is a $20 deposit to volunteer for Otafest.
In the past, Otafest has had issues with volunteers not fulfilling their commitments (being late, not showing up at all, etc.) The deposit helps us ensure that volunteers will show up, be on time and complete their duties.
Please understand that this deposit is not about making money – we’d much rather return it to you! By showing up on time, staying focused on your tasks, and adhering to the event guidelines, you’ll get your deposit back (and then some!)
Important Dates:
- Late February 2025 – Volunteer applications close
- Early March 2025 – Volunteers informed of their selection status
- Mid March 2025 – Confirmations due. This is the deadline to confirm that you still want to volunteer
- Late March 2025 – Optional in-person volunteer orientation
- Mid April 2025 – Initial schedule sent to volunteers to be reviewed for conflicts
- Late April 2025 – Final, revised schedule sent to volunteers
