Join Dr. Shumaila Hemani for the launch of her memoir exploring music, mentorship and resilience amidst the structural challenges of Canadian immigration.

For Dr. Shumaila Hemani, music was the anchor, and her bond with her mentor, the eminent ethnomusicologist Prof. Regula Burckhardt Qureshi-founder of the Canadian Centre for Ethnomusicology, affirmed her courage to risk everything for the artist’s path. Spanning seventeen years in Canada, Writing in the Wound is a meditation on resilience, belonging, and the power of art to turn silence into music.
