At the Leighton Art Centre, we know that nature and art help develop well rounded, happy, and healthy kids. During our Art & Nature Autumn Session, kids will explore the beautiful foothills through nature journaling, hiking, games, creating, and more. Exploration in the museum will give students the opportunity to learn about the history of the foothills and people who call this place home. This program will include mindful movement and reflection time to foster stronger emotional intelligence and physical literacy. Students will challenge themselves through daily art projects that spark creativity and inventiveness. Art & Nature Autumn Session will provide your artist explorer an opportunity to make new friends and meet new challenges in a safe and fun environment with highly trained educators who are passionate about what they teach. Parents are invited December 16, 2020, at 1:00pm, for an art exhibition featuring the work of their artists! This program is suitable for ages five to 16. Participants between five and 10 years old will be in a separate group from the 11 to 16-year-olds. In order to comply with proper social distancing requirements, there is very limited capacity. All participants will be required to wear masks indoors, and instructors will make efforts to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Participants must come dressed to be outside for a significant part of the day. Closure Policy In the event of a closure due to weather or COVID-19, classes will meet online to do nature journaling and an art or science project that everyone can participate in from home. Zoom links will be provided as required. Cancellation Policy If you cancel within 48 hrs of registering your child, you will receive a 100% refund. After 48 hours and up to October 27, cancellations will receive a 50% refund. Beginning on October 28, no refund will be provided for cancellations. There are no make-up dates or discounts for missed sessions.
