Artist Taxation

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Date: October 28, 2020, at 11:00am MDT
Cost: Free

It is never too early to start planning your taxes, especially when 2020 may create some added complexity for artists who received the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB). We also know that the Canada Revenue Agency has been watching artists more closely in recent years, and they have been developing a new tax folio to help guide artists through the tax filing process.

Join us in conversation with artist Steve Higgins and tax preparer/actor Tova Epp about what artists should consider when preparing their taxes as a professional artist, tips to deal with CRA reviews and audit situations, and how to plan for reporting CERB and CRB next year.

Please note, this webinar is designed for professional visual artists. It is intended as an informational service to provide a summary of issues of interest to practicing visual artists. The webinar will be offered via Zoom, and all sessions will be recorded. The Zoom link will be provided to participants the day before the webinar. Otter will be available for those that require speech-to-text transcription. We will make the recordings available to participants after the webinar, as well as a summary of the questions we receive from participants.
