(Baldwin Intaglio Ground) with Kate Baillies Explore using a safer alternative to traditional solvent-based etching grounds. B.I.G. is a versatile etching ground developed by Andrew Baldwin of Trefeglwys Printmaking Studio (UK). B.I.G. has all qualities etchers know and love about hard/soft ground—minus the VOC’s, plus it’s super-easy to use! Kate Baillies will introduce participants to using B.I.G. as a hard ground, along with coffee lift (an amazing sugar lift alternative) and the Zeamazing Spray Aquatint solution. Our first day will focus on learning about these products and how to use them, with an image supplied by participants. Our second day will continue where the first leaves off, including printing etching(s) made in the workshop. **All the creative fun takes place in the small but mighty, Alberta Printmakers Studio—home of stop #2 (July 10, 2021) on Zea Mays Printmaking’s Virtual World Tour (produced Summer 2021).
