Best Practices

Dealing with public galleries in Alberta? We have a draft best practice document for that…

Public galleries are not-for-profit galleries that receive the majority of their funding from local, provincial, and/or federal government sources and should pay artists’ fees (Exhibition Royalty Fees) to all artists whose works are exhibited. In addition, professional fees and copyright/reproduction royalties should be paid. Current and advance fee rates and categories are found in the CARFAC/RAAV fee schedule.

There will be best practices community consultation sessions in both Calgary and Edmonton in the fall. The Calgary session will take place at Contemporary Calgary (701 11th St. SW) on Saturday, October 26, 2019, between 2:00 and 5:00pm. You will be able to RSVP your attendance to these sessions in a few weeks.

Comments and questions on any of the draft best practice documents can be addressed to chris@carfacalberta.com anytime before November 23, 2019.
