Building Stage Presence & Fighting Audition Anxiety

With Taylor Matheson

What if you forget the words? What if you’re not feeling top of your game? What if you’re just plain nervous?

Audition and performance nerves are normal, but they don’t have to keep you from enjoying your time onstage.

Join Taylor Matheson (she/her) for this four-hour workshop where we’ll dive into what stage presence actually means, the psychology of stress, and the beliefs we hold about ourselves. Then together, we’ll practise breaking through the habits and beliefs and actions that hold us back. Taylor has had a lot of practice trying, failing, succeeding, and learning on many different stages in front of many different people. She looks forward to sharing her experiences, wisdom, tips, and tricks with you.

Please bring a song (with accompaniment on your phone) or a monologue that you’d bring for an audition. If you don’t have one ready, you can sing happy birthday or O Canada, or recite a favourite poem.

This workshop will be a safe space where all humans of any gender, race, sexuality, age, or ability will be joyfully supported and welcomed.

Date: Saturday, June 4, 2022, 1:00 – 5:00pm
