Business / Arts is a national charitable organization that shows the power of partnership between business and arts. Through initiatives like the Canadian Arts Summit, Business / Arts works in partnership with arts leaders, government and the business community to ensure a thriving arts and culture sector. We lead research and advocacy projects to help make the case for the arts and celebrate leading figures in the business and arts communities across Canada through our annual awards gala. The artsvest program is a mentorship training program designed to build capacity in Canada’s cultural sector. Artsvest provides small to mid-sized arts, culture and heritage organizations with resources, expertise and training in marketing, board governance and sponsorship along with matching incentive funds and peer-to-peer networking. To date, 5,966 representatives from 2,576 organizations have participated in the artsvest training and formed 5,864 partnerships with businesses, raising over $26.8 million in new private sector investment. Combined with matching funds, the overall impact is $37.2 million to Canada’s cultural sector.

Grant Administrator & Partner Stewardship Coordinator

Business / Arts is seeking a grant administrator & partner stewardship coordinator to manage and support the regional artsvest programs (including, application intake, tracking, processing, allocation and disbursement of matching funds) and support senior management with partner relationships and engagement including government and private sector funders. We are looking for a highly professional and detail-oriented individual who has knowledge and understanding of the arts and cultural sector, is able to work independently, organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines. The successful candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills in data tracking and analysis, project management and stakeholder relations. This is a remote position and open to candidates based anywhere in Canada.

The grant administrator & partner stewardship coordinator will work under the leadership of the senior director and will work closely with the B/A team. Their duties will include but are not limited to the following key focus areas:

  • Grant Management: Coordinate the application and granting processes of matching funds, including vetting applications, selection process, and reporting on the progress and key deliverables of arts organizations and the levels of private sector contributions.
  • Matching Fund Distribution: Oversee the extensive process for allocating and distributing matching funds, including strict financial tracking, fund allocation and processing. Maintain a close working relationship with administration, finance and accounting, to ensure a transparent, equitable and effective process.
  • Support: Provide support to arts and culture organizations as they work through the application process and apply their training to secure private sector partnerships.
  • Communication & Engagement: Communicate effectively with participants, troubleshoot any technical, scheduling or communication concerns, ensuring smooth and easy access to training, mentorship and networking opportunities.
  • Project Management: Ability to track multiple program timelines, update work-back schedules, tracking sheets and performance measurements; understanding of the software and tools necessary to effectively collect, manage and report on key data points and related analysis.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Maintain ongoing relationships with regional funders and provide regular updates to funding partners on program progress in collaboration with the senior director and vice president.

Qualifications

As a national ambassador and champion for the arts and cultural sectors, the ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge and experience in the arts & culture or business sectors.
  • Familiarity and experience working with Canada’s not-for-profit arts, culture and heritage communities, including both rural and urban, under-resourced and equity-seeking communities, with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
  • Experience in building and facilitating collaborative relationships with stakeholders including program participants, team members, key stakeholders and funding partners.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and effectively meet multiple deadlines.
  • Professional and personable nature with a strong aptitude for providing high level customer service.
  • A clear communicator with excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task and manage tasks within a remote working environment.
  • High attention to detail particularly with data and accounting information.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting, with a high level of technical literacy in Microsoft Excel and other data management platforms, MS Office, CRM Software, Google Workspace and web-based project management systems.
