Call for Board of Directors
Join us! The Calgary Girls Choir Society (CGC) is seeking new members for its board of directors. This group of dedicated individuals contribute their time and skills to support the CGC’s amazing choral program for young women. Meeting on the second Monday of every month, this operational board supports the CGC artistic director, office staff, and choir program, through responsible governance, strong fiscal management, and policy-based decision making.
In normal times our meetings run from 6:30 to 9:00pm (online 7:00 to 9:00pm) with time spent reviewing the business of the choir, gaining perspective on issues, and collaborating on solutions. In particular, we are in need of finance committee members. Our finance committee divides the work, so the financial tasks are not onerous, and there is good segregation of duties.
For 25 years the Calgary Girls Choir (CGC) has been Giving Young Women a Voice through choral music. The choir strives to increase the skill and knowledge of its choristers while instilling in them a passion for music and a means of expression. An award-winning and internationally renowned choir, the CGC is passionate about inspiring and empowering young women through the pursuit of musical excellence. The CGC is a home for many girls who find it to be a place of support, learning, teamwork, encouragement and expression. Many CGC alumnae go on to become professional singers, teachers and choral conductors, and countless others acknowledge their experience with the choir, and the gained transferable skills, positively influenced their journey into adulthood.
