Call for Submissions February 8, 2023 Call for Participation, Consultation Session For BIPOC Visual Artists Date: Wednesday March 1, 2023 Time: 10am – 12noon Honorarium: $335 Application Deadline: February 13, 2023 CultureBrew.Art (CBA) and Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens CARFAC invite BIPOC visual artists across Canada to participate in a consultation session about what you need in a digital database that will allow you to be found by curators, engagers and employers for opportunities. This session will introduce artists to CultureBrew.Art, a digital platform with a searchable database of Indigenous and racialized artists, and will include conversations about how the platform can better support BIPOC visual artists and their needs. Participants are welcomed to share their experiences with barriers they face as BIPOC artists and what they need to be supported as artists. CultureBrew.Art aims to provide artists with access to more opportunities by being part of a searchable database where curators, engagers and employers can filter and search artist profiles to find artists. This two-hour consultation session will take place online via Zoom with ASL interpretation available for all participants. The session will take place on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 10am – 12noon MT and we are offering an honorarium of $335 based on the CARFAC fee schedule to selected participating artists. In the session, CBA will share what an artist profile looks like and will ask which aspects do and do not work for visual artists. Participants will also receive a promotional code for a free one-year membership to CBA on behalf of CARFAC. We are asking artists to apply for a place in the consultation session so that we may ensure that we have representation from artists across geographic regions and artistic disciplines. Apply to be considered as a participant for this artist consultation by February 13 2023.
