Choreographers and Actor / Directors
Are you interested in creating theatre and dance performances with children and youth? Trickster Theatre creates a new show in a school, somewhere in Alberta, almost every week of the school year. Come and be part of the team that creates and delivers these exciting physical theatre shows. Each project is one week long and artists are able to book up to 26 weeks of work per school year.
The ideal candidate has experience either as a choreographer, an improvisor or a theatre devisor (if you have experience in all three — fantastic!) . Having worked with kids in summer camps or schools is a real plus, as is experience in lighting and sound. A Class 4 driver’s license is also an asset.
Trickster is not an actors equity company, however, our artist fees are roughly 30 – 50% above equity base rates. Artist fees range from $850 – $1,250 per week. For weeks outside your home location, accommodation and per diems are provided as well.
Artists that work with Trickster typically work with the company for 5 – 10 years (6 – 26 weeks per year). If you would like to join the team and help create great theatre in schools around the province, contact us. We are hiring for projects this fall and for the rest of the 2022/23 school year. Of course we hope that you will have so much fun doing the work that you return for the next season as well. We also provide training and mentorship to make the process of joining the program as smooth as possible.
