Community Class: Storytelling through Light

Dates: January 24 – March 27, 2024Times: Wednesdays, 1 – 3pmLocation: NaAC studio (8038, Fairmount Drive SE)Cost: $150

The light within a photo can highlight and share details that are important for the artist and viewer. When you snap a photo of someone you think about how they will look in the photo. The background, colours and the clothes they are wearing all tell a story.

Guest facilitator nicole kelly westman will lead our group through the process of setting up a photo to tell the story you want to share. Each artist will transform a fabric backdrop through fabric dying, painting or collage that will sit behind them for dedicated self-portrait sessions. Each artist will receive copies of their self portraits and a better understanding of photo processes.

This class is open to mixed ability participants ages 16+. There is financial support available through scholarships. If you are interested in applying for financial support, please contact Kylie Poppe at 403.253.3174 ext. 0 for scholarship information.

Scholarships will cover 100% of the class fee.
