This is a senior level position reporting directly to the President & CEO.

The Director, Community Investment & Impact is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of Calgary Arts Development’s grant investment and capacity building programs, as well as overseeing our knowledge, impact, and accountability activities, ensuring that the collective work of community investment and impact delivers on our corporate vision, mission, and strategy.

The Director, Community Investment & Impact reports directly to the President & CEO and is a member of the leadership team. This position holds accountability for community investment, impact, and related roles and works with the full Calgary Arts Development team to realize our vision and mission:

Vision: A creative, connected Calgary through the arts.
Mission: Calgary Arts Development supports and strengthens the arts to benefit all Calgarians.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Provide clear and strategic planning oversight to community investment and impact teams.
  • Provide oversight for community investment activities, including investment program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provide oversight for impact activities, including data analysis, key performance indicator tracking, impact measurement, and research projects.
  • Develop and provide oversight for fiscal budget areas related to community investment and impact.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative and collegial relationship within the organization, particularly with the leadership team and the board of directors.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to all Calgary Arts Development staff, particularly direct reports.
  • Act as a representative of Calgary Arts Development at a variety of events and programs.
  • Other accountabilities as assigned.

You are someone that thrives in a rapidly changing environment and can balance multiple tasks of varying depth on a day-to-day basis. Further attributes include:

  • Active in learning about Calgary’s arts community with an interest in all artistic disciplines.
  • Active champion for greater equity and diversity within Calgary’s arts sector.
  • Previous leadership experience in a collaborative and open work environment with demonstrated ability to lead in respectful, equitable, and inclusive ways.
  • Proficiency with written and oral communication with superior relationship, public speaking, and networking skills.
  • Experience and proficiency in research and evaluation, including quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Experience and proficiency in program development.
  • Experience and proficiency in strategic planning.
  • Experience with not-for-profit boards and working committees.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills to meet team needs.

Experience in the arts, the not-for-profit sector and/or community investment is considered an asset.

Salary Range: $80K – $120K plus benefits package.
