Event Centre Community Engagement Survey

The deadline for this survey has passed.

Help shape the visitor experience at the new Event Centre in Calgary’s emerging Culture & Entertainment District.

City Council approved plans for a new Event Centre in July 2019. In November, The City of Calgary and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation formalized their agreement to jointly fund and build the $550 million facility.

CMLC will serve as Development Manager for the facility to oversee its design and construction and successful integration into the district.

The new event centre will deliver an extraordinary civic amenity for residents and visitors to enjoy for generations. Beyond bringing the city a world-class venue for sports and entertainment events of all types and sizes, the project will include the addition of dynamic outdoor festival spaces and streetscape enhancements to the surrounding area.

Considered as one of three catalyst community-building projects for the Rivers District, the new event centre is a critical component to realizing the vision of Calgary’s Culture & Entertainment District.

As the development manager responsible for the procurement process to select the facility’s project team and oversee construction logistics, CMLC is also leading a public consultation program in advance of building design and construction.

That’s where you come in. We want to hear from all Calgarians!

What We’d Like to Know

Following Council’s approval and execution of the Event Centre agreement, we are coming back to the community to gain insight into what Calgarians envision for the project and how we can inspire the project team to create a one-of-a-kind visitor experience, unique to our city and a source of pride for all Calgarians.

We’re seeking input on the user experience, programming, and amenities to help inform the design and function of the facility, its surrounding public spaces and the food, beverage and retail offerings that will complement it—so we can learn what matters most to you!

Findings will be collected and reviewed and provided to the design team to support the design process. Findings will be publicly available once the engagement program concludes.
