Executive Director

ChamberFest West seeks a year round, part-time executive director whose primary role is to support and grow the vision and mission of ChamberFest West. The executive director will work closely with the artistic directors, the board, and staff, providing overall leadership and strategic direction for planning, delivering, evaluating and growing the ChamberFest West summer concert series.

The ideal candidate is a creative and innovative professional with a proven record of achievement and inspiring leadership in arts management (preferably music).

About ChamberFest West

ChamberFest West’s purpose is to advance appreciation of chamber music and enrich the community by providing a broad range of high-quality public performances in an annual summer festival in Calgary. The festival features internationally renowned musicians, will explore unique and immersive thematic programming, and will create original, engaging musical experiences for its audiences.

Co-artistic directors and founders of ChamberFest West are violinist Diana Cohen and pianist Roman Rabinovich. Diana Cohen is concertmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic, founder and co-artistic director of ChamberFest Cleveland, and a well-known soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Concert pianist and recording artist Roman Rabinovich is winner of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition.

About the Position

The executive director works closely with the artistic directors and reports to the board of directors. The executive director is trusted to act with authority on behalf of the festival in the areas of festival planning and execution, finance, fundraising and donor recognition, marketing and communication, and human relations. The executive director provides administrative support to the board of directors.

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader and team player capable of developing and working with other highly professional and talented staff, community volunteers, cultural leaders and partner organizations, venues and vendors.

The executive director will be hired as an independent contractor. Except during festival time, when the successful candidate will work full-time, the position will require approximately 10 to 20 hours of work per week. Specific hours will be worked out between the successful candidate and ChamberFest West.

Due to the onsite requirements before, during and after the festival period, consideration will be given to the location of the candidate. In the event a candidate is resident outside of the City of Calgary, please note the festival will not cover the cost of any housing, travel or living expenses of the candidate while in person attendance is required.

Salary: Competitive; commensurate with experience.
