Parkdale Nifty Fifties Seniors Association is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of executive director.

About the Organization

Parkdale Nifty Fifties Seniors Association is a charitable organization with a mission to provide community-based programming for those age 50+ to enhance their physical, social and emotional well-being. For the past 39 years, the small but mighty Nifty Fifties has been promoting social inclusion for the Calgary and area 50+ population through its many recreational, art and social activities.

Position

Title: Executive Director
Job Type: Permanent Full Time
Salary Range: $60,000 – $67,000
Tentative Start Date: August 15, 2022

Position Overview

Reporting to the bard of directors, the executive director is responsible for the following:

  • Management and supervision of day to day operations.
  • Budget management including assisting in the development of the annual budget and ensuring current financial records are up to date and all legislative laws and policies are adhered to.
  • Programming: Oversee programming and program development and evaluation and assist staff as needed.
  • Membership: Respond to member questions and concerns as appropriate and attend AGM and member meetings, as required.
  • Marketing: Oversee the production and distribution of newsletter and marketing materials and attend community meetings as appropriate to promote the organization.
  • Fundraising: Apply for appropriate grants and provide appropriate reports to granting bodies and develop relationships with potential donors or funders.
  • Board of Directors: attend board meetings to report on operations and provide input on strategic goals and report on the implementation of strategic priorities.

  • Understands the importance of community and social inclusion in quality of life.
  • Open and adaptable. Attentive listener, who can change their perspective based on new ideas. Assimilate and implement information in new context.
  • Able to organize multiple projects.
  • Ability to multitask and refocus after interruption.

Competencies and Skills

  • Non-profit Administration: Familiarity with operations in non-profit sector, including accounting practices, grant writing and reporting to stake holders.
  • Community Development: experience in building community and making people feel welcome and included.
  • Emotional Awareness: Understands own emotions and responds to others with empathy.
  • Develops and Motivates Others: inspires team members and board of directors.
  • Budget Management: Experience with budget management and revenue projection.
  • Grant and Project Management: able to create and articulate complex project plans, manage those plans to completion and report.
  • Strategic Thinking: considers the future of the organization proactively and responsively; weighs diverse inputs to inform strategies; identifies innovative opportunities within and beyond the current programs.
  • Collaboration: develops a shared vision for collaborative efforts that include and transcend the goals of the respective partners.
