Femme Wave is looking for a dedicated volunteer to join the social media team for the 2019 festival. This will be one of the cornerstone participants in growing Femme Wave’s following by creating and maintaining a strong online presence.

Role Description

The Social Media Coordinator’s role is to implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts. Through thoughtful and dedicated leadership and teamwork, this person will contribute to the expansion of Femme Wave into a landmark arts festival in Calgary. This position will work with and receive guidance from festival directors and the board.

Social Media Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging text, image and video content for social media and Femme Wave newsletters.
  • Design content to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz around Femme Wave events, fundraisers and initiatives.
  • Manage co-promotions with community partners, including posts and contests on social media and features in newsletters.
  • Track audience preferences and discover current trends.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness.
  • Facilitate online conversations with Femme Wave followers and respond to queries.
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and audience engagement.
  • Oversee social media accounts’ layout.
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers, like promotions and competitions.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role is necessary for the success of this position.
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Hootsuite are necessary for the success of this position.
  • Experience with SEO and social media analytics are a strong asset.
  • Experience in marketing, event management, and the non-profit sector are all valuable.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with the Calgary arts community is a strong asset, but not required.

The Social Media Coordinator will begin work immediately through to the 2019 Femme Wave Festival. Time commitments will vary and increase into October and November 2019, when the festival takes place but will average five to 10 hours per week. Hours are flexible and will vary. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
