Femme Wave

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Femme Wave 2020 is scheduled to take place across various venues in Calgary from November 5 to 8, 2020. Femme Wave is a feminist arts festival that takes place on Treaty 7 territory and the traditional territory of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakoda (Stoney), and Tsuut’ina, also known as Calgary, Alberta.

We are currently looking for musicians, visual artists, comedians, filmmakers, and workshop facilitators to be involved in our 2020 festival.

First, a few things to note.

Femme Wave requires that at least one musician in your group identifies as a woman, trans, or non-binary. As long as your band isn’t comprised solely of cis-gender men, please submit!

Femme Wave will pay every artist selected to play at our festival. We think your art is important and want to compensate you for that. We can pay $150 to every artist, along with a full access festival wristband. If you are travelling from out of town, we can help arrange accommodations at a safe and welcoming home.

Femme Wave aims to be accessible and inclusive, so if you require any assistance with the application process please send an email to info@femmewave.com or call 587.889.7790 and we can help you get your submission together.

Femme Wave Feminist Arts Festival and organizers are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion.

Femme Wave is not space where sexist, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, classist or otherwise discriminatory language will go unchallenged.

To apply, visit femmewave.com/apply.

The deadline to apply to play Femme Wave is May 31, 2020. We will review every submission and contact all applicants by September 1, 2020, with our decision.
