Position: General Manager, Arts (Full-time)
Location: Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: $60,416/yr – $75,520/yr

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests and future goals.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (or related degree) and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the field and two years’ supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing a performing arts theatre and leading multi-disciplinary arts programming.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months).
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Three professional references required.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure YMCA arts programs and services delivered are of the highest quality, meeting the needs of our members and participants, and delivered to YMCA standards.
  • Working with both front of house and back of house staff or contractor to maintain quality of the audience experience.
  • Working with multiple external partners to provide access to arts infrastructure through partnerships, rentals and co-productions.
  • Oversee the implementation of association-wide policies and procedures within the arts department.
  • Ensure all administration duties are up to date and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Perform duty manager shifts.
  • Ensure the provision of a safe environment through the hiring, supervision and training of qualified and competent staff and volunteers in the arts department.
  • Represent the YMCA on Association Workgroups.
  • Ensure compliance to all health and safety systems, policies and procedures within your branch.
  • Ensure compliance of all certifications for staff and volunteers within your ILT.
  • Support the general manager in ensuring the YMCA has a positive presence in the local community.
  • Provide direct leadership and oversight to the staff and volunteer aspect of the annual campaign.
