Graphic & Web Designer

Creative Calgary gearing up for the fall municipal election and wants to empower voters to make informed choices about which candidates (if elected) will support robust funding for the arts. We are seeking a graphic and web designer to elevate our visual brand both online and in the community leading up to the 2021 municipal election.

Background

Creative Calgary is a non-partisan group of artists, arts organizations and citizens at large who are committed to and advocate for a thriving arts sector with a positive public profile. Prior to 2018, Calgary’s municipal support for arts organizations was the lowest among comparable cities in Canada. Citizens wanted change, and Creative Calgary was formed in 2017 ahead of the municipal election. In 2018, we advocated for an increase in municipal investment for Calgary’s arts sector. As a result, The City of Calgary increased arts funding from $6.4M in 2018 to $12.4M in 2019, with a commitment to further annual increases until it reaches $15.5M in 2022.

Deliverables

  • Design and produce online content, including social media graphics, email banners and templates with the constructs of our existing brand.
  • Update Creative Calgary’s website (WIX) to reflect our current advocacy work and ongoing programs.

Compensation

$30/hour based on an estimated six hours/week over 16 weeks, with the understanding that some weeks will require more than six hours and some weeks will require less than six hours.

Application

Please submit your resume and a portfolio with two to three examples of past work to admin@creativecalgary.org by July 21, 2021, at 5:00pm.
