Casino Volunteers Needed

M:ST has been rebooked for our first casino fundraiser since 2018, taking place on Tuesday, September 28, and Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Elbow River Casino (218 18th Ave. SE), and we need your help!

M:ST relies on our amazing volunteers to make fundraising events like this a success, and we would love your company and support.

The shifts available for both days are as follows:

  • 11:00am – 7:15pm (general manager/banker or cashier/chiprunner)
  • 7:00pm – 3:30am (general Manager/banker or cashier/chiprunner)
  • 11:15pm – 3:30am (countroom supervisor or countroom staff)

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Jordan Schinkel (engagement + operations director) at jordan@mountainstandardtime.org for access to the sign up sheet or if you have any questions!

If you are unsure or unable to commit now, we can also put you on a backup volunteer list. We appreciate help in any capacity! How does the casino fundraiser help M:ST?

The funds that M:ST and other participating non-profits receive every two years from these casino fundraisers for the AGLC are integral to our core operating funding structure, and M:ST could not operate as it does without this support. The casino fund covers core costs such as staff salaries, overhead such as office rent, and some programming costs like biennial artist fees at the CARFAC standard or higher.

In 2018, our most recent Casino fundraiser year, we received almost $68,000 from the AGLC. This year there are 26 shifts, which means that each volunteer shift raises around $2,600 for M:ST!

Safety + More

This year both the AGLC and the Elbow River Casino have implemented strict health and safety protocols, as well as changes to the volunteer schedule in response to COVID-19. This year there will also be much fewer shifts required overall, which means a less crowded cash room and count room. As usual, free meals from the Elbow River Casino kitchen and taxi chits to get you home after your shift are provided to all volunteers.
