Playing Costumes Workshop

With Nina Vogel

What if we could let our imagination run free, break all the rules and create a costume that could be at the same time set, stage and/or character? And, most importantly, where the main goal is to play and to have fun?! From a crossing of costume design, wild creativity and puppetry, the Playing Costumes Workshop is born!

Award-winning Brazilian multi-artist Nina Vogel brings her unique creative voice and style of puppetry to Calgary, in a five-day workshop to guide artists (and puppet sympathizers) in the creation of their own playing costumes, sharing her experience in the creation of her authorial puppet solo shows. Through theoretical and practical exploratory exercises, students will have the time to play, design and build their own creative projects (solo, duos or threesome).

All participants who create a piece in this workshop will be immediately welcome to premier and present their work at the 2024 Festival of Animated Objects in Calgary between the dates of March 14 – 16, 2024. Details of times and locations with willing participants will be arranged at the time of the workshop with a member of CAMP.
