Now and Then: Tales of Immigration and Resiliency

Open Call for Virtual Exhibition
Now and Then: Tales of Immigration and Resiliency
Application Deadline:
March 31, 2021

A virtual exhibition curated by SpanicArts in partnership with ARTING: New Art Manifesto.

This exhibition is an extension of our yearly Raíces/Roots Exhibition, a project that was envisioned to showcase the artwork of the Hispanic community in Calgary.

Since 2020’s Raíces exhibition had to be cancelled due to COVID restrictions, we will be hosting a curated online exhibition to feature the work of artists from the Hispanic community. Only 20 artists will be selected to participate.

We welcome submissions exploring the themes of immigration, resilience, and identity. We are looking for artwork that responds to the question: How do our personalities/identities adapt to new realities?

This can be taken from our perspective as immigrants, our need to adapt to the new normal since the pandemic, our resilience when facing drastic changes, self-discovery, and/or the transformation of our lives when reconnecting with our roots or origin. Now and Then: tales of immigration and resiliency is open to all disciplines, visual arts and performing arts, as long as the archives fit the submission guidelines.

Costs & Fees

There are no entry fees. Any sales will be made between artists and buyers independently and no commission will be taken by SpanicArts.
