Part-Time Bookkeeper

Calgary Opera is on the lookout for their next part-time bookkeeper to join their busy and exciting team. This role will report directly to and assist the director of finance and administration with a variety of accounting functions including data entry, accounts payable processing, reconciliation with sales programs, budgeting and forecasting, financial statements, and audit preparation. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) office-based role with some flexibility in scheduling.

As the part-time bookkeeper your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Entering invoices into the Sage accounting system as per company policies.
  • Issuing cheques or electronic payments as appropriate.
  • Reconciling daily sales and donation reports with the accounting system.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts on a periodic basis, at least monthly.
  • Assist in Payroll as required.
  • Act as backup to the director of finance and administration on occasion (e.g., vacation coverage).
  • Ad hoc analysis or reporting as needed.

The right candidate will demonstrate on their resume:

  • At least one year of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounting or a similar program.
  • Familiarity with Tessitura or a similar database would be a strong asset.
  • Background in supporting processes.
