PitchFest
In partnership with the Writers’ Guild of Alberta (WGA), Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA) is pleased to present PitchFest in Calgary. This two-part event includes a 90-minute How to Pitch to Magazines seminar and the main event: a chance to pitch your story ideas to editors at some of the province’s finest magazines.
For emerging writers and experienced freelancers alike, flex your writing muscles and hone your pitches: this intensive will prepare you for a face-to-face with a magazine editor(s) of your choice.

Seminar: How to Pitch to Magazines
Join veteran magazine editor Anicka Quin and award-winning freelance writer Tim Querengesser in a seminar that will help you cover the bases with time-tested strategies for planning, researching and developing your ideas, polishing your query, making the approach and following up to get results. They’ll also share insider tips for establishing and nurturing the editorial relationship.

PitchFest
Editors will be on hand to catch your pitches on Saturday, November 23, 2019, in both Calgary and Edmonton. You can pitch to one or several editors, and can even pitch more than one idea to each editor.
