F&D Scene Changes is looking for a full-time entertainment project manager with experience in theatres or entertainment venues.

Celebrating our 40th year, F&D Scene Changes Ltd. has been internationally recognized for our talent in transforming our clients’ ideas into reality. Our projects range from theatrical scenery, television and film to theme park elements, museum exhibits, and trade show and retail displays. We have fabricated and installed our products throughout North America and internationally for various clients such as Cirque du Soleil (Montreal, Macau, Las Vegas and Los Angeles), Universal Studios California, Disney (Orlando, California, Tokyo and Hong Kong), Broadway, The Centre Theatre Group in Los Angeles, Glenbow, Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, Cross Iron Mills mall in Balzac, AB, and many venues throughout Canada and the United States.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, post secondary is preferred.

Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to create and maintain client relationships
  • Ability to interpret design renderings and drawings, technical drawings and engineering requirements
  • Ability to generate construction estimates
  • Ability to direct and manage crew labour
  • Ability to oversee technical construction of welding, carpentry, sculpting, and painted scenery
  • Moderate to advanced computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in AutoCAD or other design software is considered an asset but not required

Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of Production Management or Production Director experience in live entertainment venues (Broadway, concert venues, theatrical venues, ballet, or opera)
  • Experience managing crews of 50-100 employees
  • Experience managing production budgets over $200,000
  • Experience with the RFP/bidding process
  • Experience managing IATSE Union crews
  • Experience liaising directly with clients, designers, and technical managers
  • Experience with project budgeting and meeting financial targets
  • Experience in estimating project costs

Job Duties:

  • Establish procedures and implement policies
  • Plan and maintain production schedules
  • Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers
  • Prepare budgets and monitor revenues and expenses
  • Initiate or approve development of articles, books, films, broadcasts, musical recording and theatre productions
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Monitor progress of delivery schedules
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates
  • Interpret blueprints/specifications/standards and written technical instructions
  • Generating quotations and bidding on projects
  • Overseeing all production processes
  • Responding to client direction
