Puppets Plus!

WP Puppet Theatre is proud to present Puppets Plus! Part of our Puppet Power Arts Series, this special new annual event offers a unique collaboration between a team of creative kids and a guest artist.

For our inaugural event we are thrilled to work with Jasper musician Matricia Bauer. The full-day program on Saturday, February 17, 2024 consists of a puppet-making workshop with pre-registered children, ages 8 – 12 years old, a separate loom beading workshop in the morning and a drumming and singing workshop for adults with Matricia Bauer in the evening! Puppet-making workshop concludes with a family-friendly afternoon shadow puppet performance with the kids performing and Matricia underscoring their show with drumming followed by hot chocolate and cookies.

Inspired by Dr Suess’s lovely book My Many Coloured Days, the program supports children’s emotional literacy while being fun and visually stunning. The book describes feelings with different colours and animals; our program will feature native Alberta animals. Under the guidance of WP Puppet Theatre’s Artistic Director, Wendy Passmore-Godfey, participants will explore the magic of light and shade as they make shadow puppets to present the story of My Many Coloured Days.
