The Quickdraw Animation Society is seeking a SCiP intern to support the creation of a publication and screening series exploring the role of LGBTQ+ creators in the field of animation. Working with Quickdraw’s Programming Director and the LGBTQ+ Zine committee, this assistant will help in corresponding with selected writers, arranging permissions and screening fees for selected films, and other general administrative support for the project. It will culminate in the publication of a book collecting essays on four broad themes around queer animation history, along with a screening at the 15th GIRAF festival of independent animation. An ideal candidate for this position will be someone with a passion for animation and film programming, and with an understanding of the issues surrounding queer representation in media. Candidates who are pursuing a career in arts administration and festival programming will be given preference. Ideal for someone with course work in: Arts Film studies Arts and cultural management Some specialized skills required: Copy editing/proofreading (optional) Design and layout (optional) Communication Project management What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship: Assistance with event planning for all series screenings. Ensuring receipt of written materials by relevant deadlines. Permissions arranged for screenings at four film screenings (films to be selected by writer/committee).
