Request for Submissions

We are currently seeking young and emerging artists between the ages of 14–30 to contribute their artwork to be showcased in The Military Museums’ Atrium throughout the entire duration of Black History Month, from February 2 to 29, 2024.

The theme of the art pieces will focus on depictions of Canada’s black military contributions of the past, present and future. The objective is to honour their dedication and sacrifice, educate Calgarians about their contributions, and inspire the youth to envision what future contributions Black Canadian soldiers may bring.

We encourage artists to explore various mediums, including poetry, paintings, sculptures, drawings or digital art.

Download the artist invitation letter for more details.

To participate, interested young artists must register by January 29, 2024.

Please email to be registered as an artist.
