Rozsa Executive Arts Leadership Program

The Rozsa Executive Arts Leadership (REAL) program is a cohort-based learning program for established arts leaders (artists and arts managers) who have demonstrated the desire and potential to lead change in artistic practice, arts organization, and arts community.

Participants will focus on developing a range of leadership skills, including critical thinking, empathy, collaboration, deep listening, creativity, and identifying their leadership style.

The Rozsa Foundation values equity, diversity, and inclusion in our programs. We welcome and encourage applications for the Rozsa Executive Arts Leadership program (REAL) from arts professionals who identify as Indigenous, Black, people of colour, new Canadians, Deaf persons, persons with disabilities, persons living with mental illness, and 2SLGBTQQIA+.

Participants will learn to:

  • Assess their own leadership values, style, and capacity.
  • Build relationships with other program participants.
  • Take collective action to address sector-wide concerns.
  • Advocate the value of the arts to the wider community.
  • Incorporate care practices into their leadership role.

The goal of the program is to offer a space for established arts leaders to come together and discuss opportunities and challenges they have in their own organization, their own artistic practice, and the wider arts community. Participants will collaborate to address these opportunities and challenges, and do a deep dive on a particular topic with local creative thought leaders for their final presentations.

This hybrid online and in-person* program incorporates:

  • Eight three-hour sessions of synchronous, real-time learning led by practicing Alberta arts and non-profit leaders.
  • Two four-hour in-person* field trips to expand upon the concepts being discussed.
  • One in-person* final presentation.

*In-person activities are subject to the current AHS guidelines for health and safety.

The eight sessions occur on Thursdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm and, along with additional meeting and presentation dates, begin March 17 and run through September 22, 2022.

The Rozsa Foundation requires a financial investment from individuals or the organizations they work with to secure a spot in the program. Tuition ranges from $300 for individuals to $1,500 for employees of organizations with an operating but of more than $1M, with various levels in between based on an organization’s operating budget.
