Locations: Shane Homes YMCA in Rocky Ridge & Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton (include preferred location on resume)
Salary: $18.86 – $23.57/hr
Start Date: June 17, 2022
End Date: August 31, 2022

What Qualifications Are We Looking For?

We strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Associated degree(s) or diploma(s) or degree(s)/diploma(s) in progress in related field: theatre arts, teaching, working with children or adults, seniors and/or adults with disabilities.
  • Previous experience teaching/working in the field.
  • Interest in working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to attend mandatory training between June 1 to July 3, 2022.
  • Availability to work from July 4, 2022 to August 31, 2022.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination as per YMCA Calgary mandatory vaccination policy.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Three professional references required.
What Does This Role Look Like At YMCA Calgary?

Drama Instructors for Day Camps will:

  • Prepare lesson plans, instruct and educate participants (ages six to 13 years) in theatre arts skills, according to the curriculum.
  • Help develop/offer input to the current curriculum, in alignment with the growth and development of all arts programming initiatives.
  • Assure the health and safety of participants by following health and safety practices and regulations.
  • Provide a safe, fun, engaging, creative and supportive environment for participants.
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Effectively communicates in a variety of settings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure best delivery of customer/client experience, consistency in program offerings etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be available to work flexible hours, (including evenings and weekends for training).
  • Ensure the space and it’s equipment/supplies are being treated safely.
  • Consistently implement all Covid 19 safety and cleaning protocols.
