Summer Student Positions

Springboard Performance is hiring for two summer student positions:

  • containR Art Park Facility and Production Assistant
  • Springboard Operations Assistant

Springboard Performance is a non-profit organization devoted to connecting artists, mediums, audiences and community through physical contemporary creation and public space manipulation. Our activities include containR in Sunnysidea pop-up arts and community installation built from recycled shipping containers; the Fluid Movement Arts Festivalan annual contemporary performance and dance festival of regional, national and international artists.

containR Art Park Facility and Production Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain containR events schedule.
  • Act as the containR liaison and on-site representative/supervisor at scheduled events.
  • Involvement in City, partner, renter and artist communications.
  • containR event technical set up and basic site maintenance (will train).
  • Coordinate, train and lead volunteers on site.
  • Collaborate with Springboard marketing and communications team.
  • Connect with the community about containR and seek out connections.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, open-minded creative thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to work independently and in collaboration with a group.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google platforms.
  • Technical production experience an asset—setting up sound and lighting equipment for arts and community events (will train).
  • Social media and mobile photography skills is an asset.
  • Valid drivers license and own transportation an asset.
  • The ability to work remotely as well as evenings and weekends at containR Art Park in Sunnyside is essential.
  • Interest in the arts and linking cultural, sustainability, and community organizations is an asset.

Springboard Operations Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain master Fluid Festival and containR event schedule.
  • Assist the marketing team with gathering and organizing information and images for marketing and publicity, as well as contributing to the creation of social media, blog and newsletter content.
  • Assist with coordination of artist accommodations, schedules and contracts.
  • Collaborate with the office team on special projects and preparation of season programming documents.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, open-minded creative thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a group.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Platform.
  • Working knowledge of online distribution and social media platforms (Mailchimp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) as well as graphic design skills are an asset.
  • Interest in the performing arts, production or pursuing a career related to the arts or non-profit sector is an asset.

Both positions are part of the Canada Summer Jobs Employment Program. Further details about the position included in the attached document. The negotiable start date is May 21, 2018. The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule as the position requires some evening and weekend hours. The candidate must be able to work remotely and at containR in Sunnyside location.
