Archived September 4, 2018 The Swallow-a-Workshop Series Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre is launching a new series of collaborative, innovative, provocative workshops. They are opportunities to exchange training, practices, and ideas between artists of various disciplines. We think of these workshops as experimental art and performance labs where you can explore curiosities among peers. To start with, we’re hosting the series in “rounds” of several four-hour workshops. Each workshop focuses on different themes, facilitated by different artists. This is a way to get to know artists in our community, experiment with their processes, and learn what they are currently curious about! Round 2 will take place in September and October 2018. If you would like to lead a workshop in a future edition of the series, contact Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre by email at info@swallowabicycle.com! How Do I Join? Reserve your spot by visiting brownpapertickets.com. Drop-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged. We highly recommend, if you can, that you participate in all five sessions of Swallow-a-Workshop Round 2. This way, you can get to know all the different approaches to training and challenge yourself in workshops that are not directly connected to your area of interest; this helps you to expand your toolkit outside of your comfort zone. What Should I Bring? Bring yourself, an open mind, water, pen and paper (or any electronic notation devices you use for accessibility), and clothes you can move in. Specific workshops may require additional materials or preparation; please watch for updates. How Much Does it Cost? Swallow-a-Workshop participation is pay-what-you-can. The suggested workshop fee is $10 per session or $30 for all five sessions! However, will never turn anyone away due to lack of funds! Please contribute whatever you can afford. Swallow-a-Workshop Round 2 includes: Mii-Sum-In-Iskum / Justin Many Fingers: Niitsitapiisin / Our Blackfoot Ways Wednesday, September 5, 2018, 6:00 – 10:00pm Evergreen Community Spaces (#2 1709 8th Ave. NE) Audrey Lane Cockett: Create in Place / Creating Place Monday, September 10, 2018, 9:00am – 1:00pm Evergreen Community Spaces (#2 1709 8th Ave. NE) Jay Northcott: Mentorshipwreck Monday, September 17, 9:00am – 1:00pm Evergreen Community Spaces (#2 1709 8th Ave. NE) Louise Casemore: Putting YOU in Your Work Monday, September 24, 9:00am – 1:00pm Evergreen Community Spaces (#2 1709 8th Ave. NE) Megan Fox: Joys and Judges; An introduction to the Grotowski Method Monday, October 1, 9:00am – 1:00pm Evergreen Community Spaces (#2 1709 8th Ave. NE) Register by visiting brownpapertickets.com for all of Round 2 or for individual sessions!
